Collection: Beyond Herringbone
In 2019 our enchantment with the herringbone pattern was clearly evident in our loom forays: we worked it into different materials, thicknesses, sizes, colours, finishes and functions. It was the perfect time to create a collection that could go Beyond Herringbone by applying the “less is more” rationalism of Mies van der Rohe. In English, the word ‘herringbone’ means 'broken twill’, which literally explains the intention of our collection: to deconstruct, or rather to break, the pattern by going all the way back in the loom until that precise moment where the twill changes its direction, therefore displaying the birth of the primordial element of the herringbone. Beyond Herringbone is undeniably a more conceptual collection that could be summarized by the simple and minimal beauty of a small-scale weaving creation process. After all, if less is always more, then nothing more should be added.
