Collection: Shepherd

For centuries, Portuguese shepherds have used a thick and warm wool blanket — known in Portugal as papa blankets — as a shelter from the harsh weather conditions in the mountains, but also as protection from wolf attacks on their flocks and, potentially, themselves, especially during periods of transhumance. One of the traditional patterns is even called lobeira (which could be roughly translated to 'wolfy'), perpetuating the very old and difficult coexistence between the Shepherd and the Wolf. Until the late 70’s, in Portugal, the papa blankets were a constant presence in every home, but with the appearance of duvets made of non-natural fibres, they became part of our memories. Inspired by this textile and cultural legacy, our collection recovers this timeless blanket made of churra wool — an ancient Iberian sheep race know for its long and resistant fleece — and expands its unique characteristics into new formats, functions and colours for a more versatile and urban use, without losing an inch of warmth and authenticity.
